Out of all the video types (mp4, flv, 3pg...) which one has the best picture quality?

    The best video type would be the one with no compression at all, but no one does that.

    Since you are asking about compressed video formats, perhaps the question should be, "Given is fixed bit rate, which format has the best picture quality?"

    And given that question, I don't know the answer. The two main satellite TV companies are slowly switching to use MPEG4, so apparently they like it pretty well.

    Another thing that effects quality besides the bit rate, is the quality of the program that does the compression. A poor compression program (or processor) will use the whole data rate but give poor video, even though the format is capable of better quality.

    So I think the answer is going to be fairly complicated.
