First of all once the butt plug is in place in the anus you can not have anal sex as the butt plug is there. A butt plug is made to be inserted in the anus and give a feeling of fullness and pleasure because of the many nerve endings in the anus. Now I'm a guy so my answer is from this perspective. The bigger sizes increase the pleasure for some men as the butt plug while inserted in the anus will touch the prostate as he walks around, sits, masturbates or engages in sexual intercourse.
