Low cut jeans are so popular at the moment, I guess it's pretty tricky to not show off underwear. I'd rather see underwear than arses to be honest! I don't think it's very sexy at all though. I would be mortified if everyone could see my underwear, I'm just not down with the kids lol.

I'd go for trashy. Obviously I can't speak from a male point of view, but personally I think it looks cheap. Origionally, if somebody had their thong showing, even slightly, it was just considered to be one of the pit falls of wearing (low cut) jeans, but then women started 'cashing in' on it, and it suddenly became a fashionable sexual connotation. Diamantes and slogans were added to the waistbands of thongs for the soul intention of them being seen by others. I think it looks desperate if women have to make such attempts to attract sexual attention, and if I was a man it'd put me off a woman. However, another way to view the argument would be that if it's considered socially acceptable for a woman to have her bra straps showing when she wears a t-shirt, then what's the difference with showing the waistband on a thong?

Yes, trashy. Even in most settings of today's world. It seems that woman are copying the men who hobble around with their drawers showing. Bob is correct. This "urban trend" got it's origin in prison environments where belts are forbidden. Not liking to be told what to do, (part of the reason they are in prison), prisoners rebel and make their own styles, like underwear sticking out. When they are discharged from prison and return to their street corner, they are labled "heros" that now have the badge of honor of having been in jail. Local youths imitate their older mentors. Why would any normal, respectable person follow such fashion trends?

I think it is trashy. One day my husband put into perspective for me. he said, â??There is nothing sexy about looking at a thong hang out of someone pant. If you think about the sting riding in someone (blank) all day it is really disgusting it, donâ??t ya think?â?? well that did it for me, now when I see them hanging out that is the visual I get.

From a guy, it's trashy. It would put me off even beginning a conversation. It suggests not caring about one's self which could translate into not caring about much else.

Sometimes tantalizing and showing just enough to get someone's thoughts headed in the right (or wrong) direction can be very sexy. I think they do it because men react so strongly when they see someone's thong showing. It's a definite attention grabber.

Not sure why they do, I know what impression I get... (trashy, tramp, etc.) It's one thing to wear it because it makes you feel sexy, to hide panty lines, because your man likes it, but to have them sticking out for the world to see is just not proper ettiquette. I hate it when guys have their underwear showing, it goes the same for girls, though thankfully they aren't es extreme as some guys where it's down to their knees.

I don't think of it as being trashy. I think it is a lack of self-respect. You are degrading yourself !! I rather see you a woman naked in a thong, than with her clothes on and it sticking out of the side, then it looks nasty. I just saw a woman and I was going to tell her, but I changed my mind and said nothing maybe she would have felt offended if i told her. I don't like the look, it shows strain on the thighs and I know in between her legs is a wedgie if it shows above her waist. This is unacceptable to me as a man and I would appreciate it if you tuck it in. I love woman the way they are and showing me more only disgusts me. I'm going with sexy on this one. If the girls want to show off what they got then more power to them. I love it when a girl leans over slightly and her thong peeks out. I don't know why, but its just a major turn on for guys around my age. I mean, if the girl is going to pay what, $15 or more for a pair of sexy panties, she might as well flaunt them lol.
