  • GIve it a few hours. Then try again. Best theory is that it is over exhausted.
  • same thing happened to me. i put the charger in the light flashes and wont turn on im ordering a new battery through nitendo so ill see what that does
  • buy a new battery
  • There could be several problems. The battery may needs to be replaced. The DS(which is the receiver) is not receiving the current. The DS doesn't read or carry the current.(This means that you may need to get a new DS) A new battery may do the job. If not, there seems to be a minor error in your DS, which can be repaired quickly. If both actions fail, then the DS program is not functioning correctly, and of course, you may a new DS.
  • did the new battery work
  • If it is more than 2 years old the batteries may need to be replaced. They are available from nintendo website. I dont know how much they cost. If the batteries are too expensive, u may be able to get a better deal on other websites. MAKE SURE you get the right kinds of batteries for it though. the gameboy DS lite uses different types of batteries than the original game boy DS. If it wont turn on even when plugged in, maybe it's your charger. If one of your friends has the same type of game boy that you do try his charger. If his charger powers his but not yours its your game boy. sorry:(
  • i have the same problem, but I don't think there is something wrong with the battery, I bought my DS few month ago. ??? please help
  • there is a blown fuse inside the DS. Here is a good web site that shows you how to change it. It's actually very simple. http://kevinhaag.ca/2008/02/19/fix-a-nintendo-ds-that-wont-power-on-tutorial/
  • I'm having the same problem. I charged my game all night and when I turn the switch on, either it turns off immediately or it turns off when I open the system, or the top screen lights us, says Nintendo DSLite and then shuts off. It's a little over a year old. Should I invest in a new battery (which are 15.00 thru nintendo for the person who asked) or just send it to repair?
  • same problem here! My DS won't start. I've tried everything, but it just won't respond.
  • Actually, this has NOTHING to do with the battery. Unfortunately, this is a fuse problem, and solving this requires *gasp* manual labor. But, this is WAY cheaper than buying a new Nintendo battery. Go to http://kevinhaag.ca/2008/02/19/fix-a-nintendo-ds-that-wont-power-on-tutorial/ to learn how to fix it. Nintendo cannot solve this problem UNLESS your DS is 12 months old or newer. I repeat, just use the WARRANTY if your DS is NEW. Okay, so if it's not new, follow the steps at http://kevinhaag.ca/2008/02/19/fix-a-nintendo-ds-that-wont-power-on-tutorial/ and you're likely to have fixed your DS if you do it right. Kids: It's OKAY to try this at home. Just don't replace the DS fuse with a bomb fuse. Also, Nintendo's Tech Help Forums have not received the answer and the best solution is to fix the DS yourself rather than endure question after question from the Nintendo guy. Once again, the site is http://kevinhaag.ca/2008/02/19/fix-a-nintendo-ds-that-wont-power-on-tutorial/
  • Just a dumb question! Say you have your DS plugged in with a charger, woudn't it turn on regardless of the dead battery? My DS is doing the same thing! It is neither turning on, nor the battery seems to be charging!
  • my son's ds lite is doin close to the same thing,i can plug in the charger & the red light comes on & turn the system on then the green light comes on flashes& goes off then the red light goes off.
  • buns and chicken placed in the battery compartment helped me get it to work.
