  • (To me) It tends to mean: When something is so obvious/easy to answer, that you subconsciously (or maby consciously) ignore the obvious answer and end up searching for an alternative (more complex) answer and in doing so, end up not knowing the answer to the question that was asked. A poor example may be the question (when asked not as a joke) "How many men does it take to change a light bulb?" The Answer is so obvious that, (if the person has not heard the question before) some people hesitate in giving the answer which is '1'. 'Blinded by the obvious' is another level up, where the answer becomes so obvious, the person starts searching for an alternative more complex 'correct' answer and so cannot find the obvious correct answer. Poor language explanation, but hopefully you understand me
