  • My cat does this too, and he doesn't have any health issues. I doubt it's a health issue, it's most probably a behavioural issue. If your cat shows any signs of illness though, you should take him to the vets.
  • As the answer before mine, I also have a cat that is overly possessive of her blanket, she also knead bread and sucks the fabric at times, and at night when we go to bed she will spend 20 minutes or more kneading bread and sucking on her tail, some times it drives us crazy. She seems to do this until she thinks we are sleeping. So it you stay still it is over sooner. When she arrived at my home, she was very small. I questioned our veterinarian on it. He explained that this some time is caused by being separated to early and she would grow out of it, well she is seven now and is still doing it. Therefore, I guess we are still waiting for Peek A Boo to grow out of it. She has her blankets all over the house. She is spoiled. We look at it as a cute character flaw. Your kitty is fine. (O;
  • Most cats do this. I know both of mine do. I've been told that when kittens are young, and suckling for milk, they kneed their mothers stomach to help the milk flow. For some reason, this becomes a "habit" and your cat will continue to knead soft things like blankets the same way they kneaded at their mother, although a blanket certainly isn't going to give them any milk.
  • Cats love blanket because they are soft, like their mother. Your cat probably purrs while doing this. Just like we have our comfort things or objects, so do animals. That blanket is your cats comfort. That blanket is officaly your cats. Get used to it. :)
  • no its not. my kitten kneads on me. :D
