I would say the actions of my son, but I suppose I made a contribution to who he is. I was always proud of my parents and their work for human rights in our community. My father was also quite the philanthropist, and I am proud of that also.

You can be proud of other people's accomplishments for the person's own sake, of because those accomplishments might affect you or tie you in culturally.

You can be either glad or sad about something, but it would not be your call to be or to not be proud about something you had no part on creating or not creating (whatever the case might be).
