  • When I had my son, they told me that if I dont get the daddy to sign on the Birth Cirtificate and later on I decide to get child support, then they will have to have a paternity test done!
  • No, but you will have to have a paternity tesy later to prove he is the father if he is not listed on the birth certificate.
  • Child Support is what the Government Gives you, What you mean is Child maintenance for the father to pay. Child Maintenance and child support are Diffrent
  • Yes, if you want court ordered visitation, and there will also be a paternity test involved.
  • M sons father is not on the b/c mainly because I had to get my son registered within 6 weeks of his birth, and at this time my x was still whining on about a dna test but not doing a lot about it, i had had a traumatic birth and wasnt really up for all that, And i was told HE had to be present if I wanted his name on there as we were not married - and theres no way he would of come with me, however when i applied for income suport, because I was a single parent I had to go through the csa as well as he wasnt named on the birth certificate.
  • I think that it may differ in each state. In Arkansas, if you go through the office of Child Support, they will do the DNA test at the father's cost and they will add him to the birth certificate by way of Court Order.
