Why does my Digital Camera Memory card keep corrupting (XD CARD)? When taking a photo it takes ages to write it to the card then an error comes up on the cameras LCD screen saying power off or format card. How do I fix this problem and prevent it?

If this is a new card, you need to formay it before you can use it. Go into your camera's settings, I can't say exacly how, since every camera is a little different (being XD, I say either Fuji or Olympus.) There should be some type of option that refers to memory or the memory card. Go in it and find the option to format. WARNING: It will delete any data you may have on the card if you have used it in any other device or camera. But if it's a new card, that's no big deal. Now if this is not a new card, the data has somehow become corrupted, so your camera will not read it. Like if it came out of an older camera you had. If this is the case, copy all of your data off the card to your computer, because you have no choice but to format, which will delete it. Once it it formatted, it should work. If that doesn't work, then I don't know what you can do, other than taking either the card or the camera back to the store.
