  • It's been a while since I've had a speeding ticket, but if I remember correctly, paying the ticket is considered your court appearance for the violation. If you don't pay it by the date specified, it could technically be seen as failure to appear in court, and you can be issued a bench warrant on your record. The only leniency I've ever encountered (so far) was when I accidentally sent in a personal check (not accepted) instead of a cashiers check to pay the ticket. They didn't accept the money, but they accepted the gesture as a plea of "Guilty", and reduced my fine (which I had to then pay with a cashier's check).
  • Your best bet it to be up front an honest with the court. Go to the office in person and talk to the people there. The may not be able to help you but your time and honesty with them is the best chance you have of getting some help with your problem. Anything else you might think of will just make them angry and you don't want that...
  • Go to court and explain your situation. Judges are human and most likely, you will be given another court date in order to pay your citations. At least, you are concerned and that says a lot about you. Go to court and ask for a continuance.
