azel was the 10th Watcher of the 20 leaders of the 200 fallen angels that are mentioned in an ancient work called the Book of Enoch. The name most likely means "creation of God" but scholars aren't certain; many have confused Azel with Azel but they are 2 different fallen angels with 2 different ranks and their names mean 2 different things. Azel might mean "creation of God" or "made by God" but Azell means "arrogant towards God"

Azel is also a place mentioned in Zechariah 14:5 as the point to which the valley would reach as a result of the prophesied cleavage of the Mount of Olives. It must, therefore, refer to a site near Jerusalem, and there may be an echoing of the name in that of the Wadi Yasul (Nahal Azal), which is an afflux to the Kidron Valley from the Mount of Olives.
