Help answer this question below.
Yes. There is one crazy dude from Canada who thinks it's his moral obligation to tell me my religious beliefs are false. Just because he left the faith does not give him the right to bash me for no apparent reason.
Numerous times. That is why they invented the feature.
It was absolutely horrible before they added the "unsubscribe" feature.
We should be able to mark comments "offensive".
That is where the cyberbullies ( and there are many of them here) thrive.
Yes ! I have unsubscribed a few times. I learned long ago, never to wrestle with a pig. You get dirty, and besides, the pig likes it.
In other words , Don't argue with an idiot !
The unsubscribe button is one of the best inventions of all time.
Nope..but sometimes the thread takes off in an entirely different direction which does not include you..that's a good time to "opt out", I think! That way the people involved have a great time and you aren't bothered with the cute orange "new!"..so everybody wins! :)
Yes, there are some very disturbed people on AB and one disturbing answer actually got 95 points quickly. It makes me feel sad for humanity that those people who have such twisted ideas are supported by others who feel the same way.
Its not for being horrible...but they had their own chat in my question which I did not like.So just unsubscribed:)
I've hit that button a few times when things looked liked they were getting ugly. Usually on religious questions or child rearing.
Fortunately, this happens so infrequently. I got stuck in comment threads like that a few times and I found myself unsubscribing from them.
Only when I know an argument won't lead anywhere and I'm bored.
I have unsubscribed because the thread no longer applied to the reply in question.
many times. I can not stand too much hate being sent to my comment threads so I see trouble stirring I shut it down.
I never have. I usually make enough sense in my arguments that the other person resorts to petty name calling and when that doesn`t rile me THEY unsubscribe.
A level head and a little common sense can work wonders in this world. If only some people would realize this.
Yeah ...once ...the person was being rude for no apparent reason :-)
I've no such experience so far, since January when I joined the AB society. Generally I've yet received such comments and I hope it won't happen. Although I welcome any comments to my answers, I won't unsubscribe from comments to avoid them. Even though you may not see the horrible thing notified to you in your profile, who knows one day when you check back the particular questions, you may still catch a sight on the unexpected. Be prepared...
Only a few times. I'm usually long gone before it gets to that stage.
Yes I have, only a couple of times but some people are just not worth arguing with. I asked a question once which was very emotive for me and was attacked from various angles - most people understood where I was coming from after one or two comments and ended agreeing to disagree or seeing that our viewpoints were not actually that far apart. But there was one nasty little witch (!) who just wouldn't let go....unsubscribe time ;0)
Yes, I have, and I'm getting better...Practice makes perfect.
Sure..once in awhile. But, more often I do so because a conversation has begun between others that I am not participating in.
I know I have.
I unsubscribed from a thread once for that reason.
yes, so silly ...wish people in general would bite the bullet and just be civilized.
Nah, don't need no online function to help me ignore somebody, and besides, as it being a community, I don't believe in ''hear no evil see no evil''.
If I have nothing to say, or don't want to keep at it, I just don't.
Also, being owned in a debate I don't translate this as the person being rude or mean like it seems so many people shamlessly do, (Clever halfassed strawman arguement.) I can appreciate that they taught me something, whether they were wanting to or not.
As far as arguing goes, this is online, unsubscribe or not, it's going to happen all the time, and those who unsubscribe are as guilty of instigating heated arguements just as much as people like me who don't use the feature.
Yes a couple of times but mainly because I do not wish to argue with a person who I consider want a debate to turn nasty or I think their position is untenable.
I have not had to unsubscribe very often but I wish they had brought in the feature much earlier than they did.
It used to be much more difficult to escape people that were deliberately harassing.
Yes, a gazillion times.
Now that I'm no longer talking to them, my stay on Answerbag has become happier :):):)
Not yet I have not but there are a few time that it get to that . Some people get a little touchy about the whole god and jesus thing. Mainly I get a DR for giving my opinion. I just try to be nicwe to everyone and hopefully they will be nice back.
Yes I have had to do it, though I never reply them but I need to stop their comments from filling my feedback page.
yes just the other day. someone was trying to start an argument. I said "I am unsubscribing because you want to argue". she said I am not arguing but you are only unsubscribing because you know you are wrong.. that's the point. I can usually tell when someone is wanting to argue (I am pretty perceptive) and I won't do it.
I have, but I didn't want to see what they said.. sometimes online comments bother me.
