During my female's last heat, her fertile period didn't start until the 16th day. Is this going to be her normal heat pattern? And when I bred her again should I wait until the 16th day before I bring in the male to mate with her?

The general rule of thumb is 11 days or 12 days a bitch should be ready for the stud. However dogs like us are all different and all you can do is moniter the colour of the discharge when she is in season again (normally every 7 months from beginning of last season) and when it goes clear the deed can be done, if she does the same e.g. goes 16 days, then I guess she is a 16 day gal!
