No, but I generally stay away from all cult-I mean religious leaders.

No, I find pastors to be just like other people. There are arrogant ones, humble ones, easy-going and type A, cheerful and depressed, etc. Just because someone has chosen the clergy as a profession does not make them intrinsically anything.

My experience at work and other places seem to indicate that they sometimes advice more than it's recommended.

Not at all. They will advise if asked, much like a Doctor or lawyer will advise on their expertise, for a fee, if asked.
