I haven't heard that, but I imagine it's true. The last thing any animal needs when going through that is to get dehydrated. :)

No and I don't believe it's true. I spent 32 years in cattle country, raised a few myself and only thing I noticed was going far from the herd to be alone, often in a corner of a field or near a ring of bushes or trees.
