When applying for jobs, are you supposed to send your Resume AND the (excellent) character reference from your former employer??

I was at my last job for 2yrs, and the jobs before that, I was only there for 2mths, tops. I only put the one I was at for 2 yrs.
I don't even worry about last 7yrs. I think you should put the ones you was at the longest where you got the most exp.
That's just me though.
