Help answer this question below.
The fact that an arrest warrant is outstanding and issued against you, you could be in trouble. The police must just show probable cause that a crime likely occurred, in the jurisdiction of the issuing court, and the person named in the warrant is the perosn that likely committed the alleged crime. If you are located or stopped by police you could be arrested especially if it is within 50 miles of the issuing court. If the warrant is extraditable then you could be arrested and the issuing jurisdiction could seek to extradite you from the arresting jurisdiction. This does not mean that the Prosecution or Police can prove you committed the alleged crime "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt". Beyond a reasonable doubt is the standard required for a conviction. You should see a good criminal lawyer and it will cost you. If you cannot afford a lawyer, and it is jailable offense then you could get a Public Defender (State paid lawyer to defend you).
Why wouldn't they just put it in collections? I would get an attorney that specializes in that type of thing. I bet you could figure out a deal where you pay over a certain amount of time.

You're reading Hi I have a theft warrant that was issued in 2005 and just found out about it yesterday. I attended an auction and there was an unpaid ticket item that was turned in on my number after the auction was over. They turned it into the police as unpaid.
