  • Only in aggresive people.
  • Nope. It relaxes.
  • Not that I've ever seen. *EDIT* 5/2/08 To my troll: BITE ME!!!!
  • it causes the munchies, maybe overwieght.. lazyness.. and sleep.... hahahaha.. but has never caused me to be violent in the past years when i used to smoke it
  • I have never seen it cause aggression..in fact, the opposite is usually the norm.
  • Only to those who don't smoke and have to put up with those around them who do.
  • Remember the au pair that threw the baby against the wall killing it years back, in NY? Well the prosecution tried to say it was because she smoked pot and the judge laughed at that one stating that (and I am paraphrasing) marijuana causes the opposite reaction, it makes people lethargic.
  • Yeah more like mellooow - Pink Floyd is "musical pot" -go and listen to - crap, I can't think of the name of it (it causes memory problems too, although it's been a good 10 years or so for me LOL) umm, well, it goes, "Hello... (echo* hello hello...) is there anybody in there... just nod if you can hear me... is there anyone home?" That's how it makes you. NOT aggressive.
  • If I was a baseball player, sitting in the dugout, and, someone said that there was a bag of herb on second base, I'd aggressively go and get it.
  • Inhaling cannabis does cause aggression. Just tell a weed smoker he cant smoke pot any more, and you will see instant agression.
  • It's very rare and sometimes other factors are present that can complicate the issue but yes, Cannabis can trigger what is called in pyschology "Cannabis Pyschosis."
  • Pot doesn't directly cause aggression, but it can trigger psychosis in many of us. It did in me, and it does in others I can name. Sometimes psychotic people are aggressive, but that s ot a primary symptom. Potheads are usually passive, lethargic, and unambitious - too lazy and insecure to get in someone's face.
  • I guess that is what makes the world go round. Everyone's experience is different. People I talk to about stopping get irate if they cant smoke pot.
  • I've never heard ot that happening. And as Kat Williams (stand up comedian)puts it "the only side effects are hungry happy sleepy" LoL
  • yes it can when your withdrawing from it!
  • Definately! I smoked cannabis morning, day and night for 5 years. I was fine, relaxed and chilled whilst stoned, but when I wasn't, I would get angry and overreact to stupid things. I'm not an aggressive person at all, so it isn't that. I quit 2 years ago and am so glad I did. I don't get angry and overreact to things anymore (and I never did before smoking gange either). I'm calm and much happier. For the five years I smoked it, I would be adamant that a) I wasn't addicted and b) It made me calmer and not angry or aggressive at all. It took stopping smoking it to make me realise just what the effect of it was on me and that in fact the opposite of what I had believed was true. Not only that, but it made me so lazy, I lost track of all my hopes and dreams. Now I've sorted my life out, got off my arse, gone travelling and become a primary teacher. However, my boyfriend still smokes it and I see the same things in him as I used to have. He snaps over silly things and gets moody, he then smokes a spliff and it's all fine again. Sorry to go on, just got a lot to say.
  • cannabis doesn't, but withdrawal will cause it, no matter what you're withdrawing from. i'm more pissed when i'm tryna quit smoking cigarettes than when i'm having a gap between highs.
  • Cannabis products very rarely cause aggression in a cannabis user. More often the opposite is seen, where cannabis users amicably sit around and chat. http://www.drugtext.org/library/books/raterisks/3.4.htm The US National Commission on Marijuana and Drug Abuse said in its 1973 report, Marijuana: A Signal of Misunderstanding: "In sum, the weight of the evidence is that marijuana does not cause violent or aggressive behaviour. This view is supported by the White House Conference on Narcotics 1962 and the President's Commission on Law Enforcement 1967. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6484653.stm
  • No. That is just one of the lies that the government told way back when they were trying to make it illegal in the first place. They have now changed their views. This video has some very credible people talking about this very subject!
  • no way, it calms you down
  • From my experience, no. It causes the opposite. However, if you smoke a LOT, then you stop, you may have some rebound aggressiveness.
  • not at all, you tend to chill out alot even when your not high, i was the biggest douche bag for a few years then a began smoking now im rather chill and pity popular, but its dfferent form person to person.
  • in some people it can. it all depends on the person i guess. the only time it cause me aggression is when i was in a bad mood other than that it was a good feeling
  • Alcohol - yes, weed? C'mooon!))))
  • i dont think it does. i think some people can appear more aggresive if they regualy smoke weed and then stop for a while coz people are so used to them being chilled out and relaxed.
  • Yes it does trust me and it makes you paranoid. my dad has been smoking it for years he is totally addicted to it. when he does not have a spliff he is moody and aggressive and will flip over the stupidist things. He recently attacked my mum cause he didn't have anything to smoke can you imagine the fear now that I feel in my own house. Once he had a spliff he returned to normal. I hate all forms of drugs and if you carry on smoking it and think it does nothing to you then you are in denial and a fool.
  • No. Aggression causes cannabis.
  • That depends on how far one is willing to stretch the definition of "Cause" to suit one's views. While it's true that someone who's used to having the relaxing effect of cannabis can become aggressive when deprived of it, that can be equally attributed to their own demeanor and irresponsible choices. If a person uses cannabis, and acts aggressive without it, there's very little way of telling whether the cannabis "Caused" their behaviour, or whether that behaviour is preexisting and separate, but merely suppressed by the active presence of cannabis in their system. A drug should not be held responsible for the problems people choose to use it to suppress rather their issues than deal with them. And furthermore, I'd argue that cannabis doesn't cause aggression, because that effect is not inherent, and not unique. The vast majority of marijuana users I've known (and I have known a *Lot*) were pleasant people, and at worst, they were divided into pleasant and unpleasant in the same proportion as everyone else. And on the other hand, any psychological dependency can cause behavioural problems. When someone develops unhealthy behaviors like say... excessive television watching, and is forced to differ from them, chances are that they will become moody and aggressive. However, unhealthy behaviours can revolve around virtually anything, including behaviours which are, in moderation, perfectly harmless. And ultimately, a person's unhealthy or dependent behaviours (as opposed to genuine physiological addictions), whether they revolve around cannabis or television or sex, are their responsibility. So ultimately, my answer would be no.
  • if you want to see how silly the arguments against pot smoking are, watch the 1936 film "reefer madness"...
  • withdrawls can and cravings
  • LMFAO... "a young boy, under the influence of a drug, killed his entire family with an axe"... gotta love that reefer madness
  • one of the biggest causes of mood or behavioral change is our expectations of the substance. i'd be willing to bet that among those folks who expect to become more aggressive from cannabis, they might be whereas those who expect peacefulness from cannabis will experience that. it's all in the mind...
  • You've obviously never smoked it...
  • Very much, no! The ex-cops at www.leap.cc will vouch for that!
  • Between 1968 and 1978 I doubt if anybody in the world could have smoked more pot than I did and I never knew even one person that got aggressive off of pot. It shuts you down not picks you up. That's why it's called dope. If someone mixes it with something else like meth or coke that's a different story. Then it depends on which one is the stronger because meth and coke are uppers.
  • If you have mental illness, it is known to cause aggression. If you are normal, no.
  • Dude like where'd you hear that man? Cause I think that guy needs to just chill out man.
  • Once I mixed it with hookah tobacco to make it last longer, BAD idea. Of course it's kinda hard to say it's that which cause it. I think there are a lot of variables to this type of question, at least probably too many to get too much of a straight answer. Personally it allows me to tolerate my family whom otherwise might make me very angry often.
  • I can't imagine that it does. Makes me mellow. I've been with a lot of people who were smoking and never saw aggression.
  • More likely, stupor and sluggishness.
  • Just to add a bit of experience to the pile, I have never ever ever seen a person act out aggressivly after smoking marijauna. In fact, it is the exact opposite. I have however seen aggressive behavior after alcohal, zanax and other MAN MADE drugs.
  • No way, unless you're just a dick in the first place.
