  • Unfortunately yes. And I don't mean unfortunatley as in it is unfortunate that you could become a citizen, you may be a great person and it may be a great thing to have you as a citizen. I mean it's unfortunate that this is one more thing a person needs to worry about in regards to marrying someone with alterior motives.
  • No. It is not automatic. If you marry an American you can apply for American citizenship. Normally, after marriage you would apply for and get a Green Card - the process takes 3 to 8 months. Then, normally, you are in Green Card Status for around 5 years. Then you can apply for citizenship.
  • I could be wrong on this, but I think eventually you will become one if you stay married for at least 2 years and take the citizenship oath after that.
  • I believe so yes - However, You will be checked in on to make sure you married for other reason than just to become a US citizen.
