  • If you mean a dual boot system, yes you can. This site will walk you through the process: http://www.linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linux/2006/05/08/dual-boot-laptop.html
  • you could install one of those *nix dostro's ut if your new to linux i might suggest using something more noob friendly.. such as PCLinuxOS or Mepis. as far as dual booting a computer is easy .. just make sure you pay attention when you partition you HDD. if you want to do it in windows and have Partition Tragic... err I mean Partition Magic. you can resize from in windows. but most linux distro's that are a live cd all have partitoning software. I think PCLinuxOS is really easy for first timer to linux. Just burn the iso to cd-r and reboot system from cd rom or dvd rom drive then log in as root and set up partitions. i think all new linux distro's now use Journalised file systems. meaning in case of power loss your computer doesn't get hosed from an improper shutdown.. http://www.PCLinuxOS.com PCLINUXOS great starter distro http://www.mepis.org also great starter distro both have a huge list of available software.. and it is free
