Have your inspected, and make sure to get an oil change and tune-up before you go. Let the mechanic, know why you need an inspection, and that you dont have money to put into it, that way they dont try to ream you. It might be better if you could rent a car and split the cost. What happens if it does break down, how will you handle that? Who will pay for the repairs? I wouldnt take extra risk, if it were me. You will worry about your car the whole time, and not enjoy yourself.

If your mechanic says it's good to go, it should be ok. Radiator and tires are most important I should think. It's good to have the same mechanic work on your car all the time just for reasons like this. Good luck, and have a fabulous time. You'll remember this all your life. Keep a journal so you can relive it if you're sober enough, lol.

    Done. never again.

If your car has had a tune-up recently, including an oil change, whatever fluid a car needs etc., runs smoothly and no currant transmission problems, you should be fine. Highway miles are much easier on a car than city miles. If the milage on your car is high, like over 115,000, you should be extra careful, and on alert for any differences in the way your engine is running. But your car being a 2000, it's still reletivly new, plus Dodge parts are easy to purchase and repair if anything happens. Yeah I'm not a mechanic, hope that helps though. :)
