  • Depends on the fabric but typically yes. Almost all clothes shrink in the dryer no matter what the setting is. If you really don't want your clothes to shrink, partially dry them on low then hang them to dry or just air dry them.
  • See this similar question: http://www.answerbag.com/q_view/38969 Fabrics are made with threads that are formed by twisting fibers around and around until they cling together in long strands. When they go in the dryer, the strands twist even tighter, and therefore the clothes shrink. The heat makes it easier for the fibers to twist, but even without heat, they could.
  • I've ruined many sweaters and knits by being impatient and drying them, even on the low setting. Partially dry in the dryer and then air dry for the remainder :)
