  • very little info, but try running bike with out dash cover or trim cover between tanks, its very easy for either to short key switch
  • Try checking the wires and connections on the under side of the ignition switch. Mine would cut on and off without warning and after hours of searching for the short - that's where I found it. The connections of several wires were corroded and would only occasionally make good connection. Hope this helps.
  • The guys are right, the first thing to look for is a bad connection or a short at the ignition switch. If all is good, then the problem is probably the switch itself. I've seen a few that were worn out or corroded inside the switch (usually on old police bikes or bikes that have spent winters outside in the snow). For a wiring diagram, go to any Harley dealer and pay what ever price they ask for a service manual relating to your bike. It is worth it's weight in gold, if you are a do-it-yourselfer. After market books work in a pinch but tend to leave things out and use poor illustrations.
