In slang, it refers to somebody's transportation (i.e., a car, motorcycle). Examples: My ride is in the shop, could we take your car instead? I locked my keys in my ride.

correction to above cars are called 'whips'. in actuality a ride refers to a sex session. example: wanna go for a ride (lets go have sex). alot has to do with word usage and context clues. if the guy is white and he's there to take you somewhere then it means a car ride, but if he's standing in front of you and your in a erotic setting then he probably wants some action.

To 'go for a ride' or 'take someone for a ride' also has a negative connotation. Ride, in this case, refers to a one-way ride, with no return trip. The implication is that you will be killed and your body dumped at the end of the ride. To take someone for a ride can also refer to ripping someone off or convincing them that something is the truth when it is not. It's still a negative expression.

By way of clarification . . . A ride, in the context of being ripped off is a little wider than described above. I refers to somebody doing something something that is 'pointless' . . . i.e. going on a journey but not actually getting anywhere, a ride is a means to an end - but if you are ONLY going on the ride, without a destination, it achieves nothing. So when you say that you've been 'taken for a ride' it means somebody's done something completely pointless that you have somehow paid for.

whatever you use to get from point A to point B, car, bike, motorcycle. an elaborate lie or a rip off
