Seeing as the electrical companies are often considered advisers on the subject, I kinda doubt it. XD

Not according to most of what I hear on the news. The internet is full of reports about it being a real rip-off.

No it doesn't. Every single study done on it at the federal level or state, and in different countries all prove that it either doesn't make any difference or it costs the country more. It always drives gasoline consumption up for some reason. But it's not really to save energy. Look at who are the ones that lobbied for the extended DST. To quote Wiki: "In the mid-1980s, Clorox (parent of Kingsford Charcoal) and 7-Eleven provided the primary funding for the Daylight Saving Time Coalition behind the 1987 extension to U.S. DST, and both Idaho senators voted for it on the basis of fast-food restaurants selling more French fries made from Idaho potatoes; in 2005, the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association and the National Association of Convenience Stores successfully lobbied for the 2007 extension to U.S. DST." It's sporting goods and convenience stores that are running our lives and making these choices for us. It's NOT for energy savings. It even cost the US Stock Exchange $31 billion!!!!

According to what I've been reading, no. In my own case, I can't see how it could save energy.

G'day koolxxx, Thank you for your question. No it doesn't. The main attraction is to have an hour longer at the end of day during warm weather. Why it is starting in the US when large parts of the country are covered in snow is anyone's guess. I have attached sources for your reference. Regards USA Today http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/2008-03-08-daylight-saving-time_N.htm Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daylight_saving_time ABC Australia http://www.abc.net.au/science/news/stories/2007/1872484.htm
