  • EAT!!! If you do not eat you will feel weak and miserable. There is no reason you cannot eat. People suggest you eat soft things like macaroni and cheese, yogurt, ice cream, smoothies, slushies (the cold will help with the pain & swelling), protein shakes because it will be much easier and less irritating than trying to eat a steak which would hurt. You definately need to eat. And make sure you rinse after you eat!
  • I am assuming that since you're concerned about your folks not knowing that you are under 18. If so, how'd you get your tongue pierced legally? What do you do? You tell your parents so they can get you medical assistance so you're not listening to your dumbass friends that let you do this in the first place.
  • Eat warm soups, ice cream, anything soft and tender friendly. Just make sure that after you eat you rinse with the yellow listerine (not the flavored kind). if you can handle eating a burger right now you can.
  • I was told to stay away from dairy when I first got mine done. And to eat whatever I could otherwise and rinse with warm salt water afterward and rinse a couple times a day with a non-alcoholic mouthwash. (Oh, stay away from alcohol for a while, too) I used biotene. When I first got mine, all I could eat for about 10 days was applesauce and soup because my tongue was swollen. The second time I got it done I could eat whatever because it wasn't so bad.
  • i just got my tongue pierced and i heard the same rumor but i asked my piercer and she said that icecream is good for your tongue ring.. it is cold and helps the swelling go down
  • if you bang you knee and it swells up you put ice on it to reduce the swelling this is the same concept just eat soft ice cream to reduce the swelling it will go down soon
  • ok well i pierced my tongue myself and i know from experience after piercing my tongue 7 times in 3 yrs. DONT NOT EAT ICE CREAM because there are bateria that can infect the hole. eat ice and water ice no ice cream wash ur mouth out after every meal keep it clean dont play with it and dont touch it
  • deffinatley eat ice cream, & suck on ice cubes if your tongue is swollen alot, when i first got mine done i lived on tylenol for the first couple days so i didnt feel any pain at all and the swelling went down the day after i got it done. it was very tender but the cold helped it, Mine i changed after a week and a half and ive had it for almost 6 monthes, and so far no problems with it!:)
  • Ice is excellent for swelling (of any body part); ibuprofen or other anti-inflammatory will also help with swelling. Always rinse after eating anything to keep your mouth clean of food debris and bacteria. I rinsed with sea-salt and listerine (not together) after mine and was able to eat solid foods in two days.
  • You shouldnt eat ice cream or any dairy products in the first couple of weeks because dairy products create more mucus which creates a better enviroment for bacteria to grow, so NO ICE CREAM!! Ice is good, and liquidised food, it dont taste to great but its better than infection!
  • No, dont eat ice cream. there is tons of crap in ice cream that can infect your tongue. I infected my finger, that felt bad! if you infect your tongue, it will feel TERRIBLE!
  • LOOK U LITTLE DUMBASS PPL.....YOU CAN BUT UR NOT SUPPOSED TO EAT ICE CREAM. ICE CREAM IS A DAIRY PRODUCT. DAIRY PRODUCTS(ICE CREAM, CHEESE, YOGURT, ETC.) HAVE LIVE YEAST IN THEM. YOU CAN AND WILL GET AN ORAL YEAST INFECTION AND YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY WITH IT. NO DAIRY AT ALL UNTIL THE SWELLING AND PAIN IS COMPLETELY GONE. THIS IS USUALLY 4-6 DAYS AFTER THE DAY YOU GOT IT PIERCED. TRUST ME, I KNOW. NO DAIRY UNLESS YOU WANT YEAST GROWING IN YOUR MOUTH.
  • You can eat ice cream but not a lot of it. Be sure and rinse your mouth out after you eat. I've lived on KFC's mashed potatos and gravy for a week then I went back to beer and pizza. You should be fine in a few days.
  • Have things that are easy to eat..soup, mash..anything soft that doesn't take much chewing. Avoid anything with live bacteria in such as pro-biotic yoghurt, dairy products. It will take about a week at least before you are able to eat and talk normally so your parents are more than likely to notice I'm sorry to say. Oh and when you have eaten rinse your mouth out with saline solution. :)
  • I ate ice cream after getting mine done and I just made sure to rinse with the yellow Cepacol mouthwash afterwards. I rinsed with that mouthwash 3x a day and after I ate dairy, then after I ate in general or if my mouth felt gross I would just rinse with saltwater. I had no problems whatsoever and my tongue was normal again in 4 days. I ate ice cream, soup, jello, and if you eat slow you can eat little solid things, just please don't try it if your tongue is too irritated. I ate pizza right after getting mine and I felt fine, the next day it was swollen more than it should have been from all the chewing.
