There are a lot of tricks around; from the simple ones to the ones guys like Ronaldinho can do. Video's of this are all over the Net. A rather simple trick I liked to do was the following. I would receive the ball at around midfield, would take a sprint with it at the general direction of the right corner flag, thus luring the defender to come with me and make it look like I was going to pass him on his left side and then place the ball into the goal area. Many a time, the response would be a dash towards the corner flag to intercept my move. The moment that happened, I would pivot on my right foot, thus leaving my left foot free to have a clear shot on goals, since the defender would be a few metres away already. You need to have good command of both feed, of course...
