  • It is legal to have it towed. It would be considered an abandoned vehicle.
  • (Neighboring Hillsborough County, Florida Resident) It is legal, but you need the right papers. My neighbor was renting and had a vehicle on his lawn for 3 years. One day code enforcement (the people who condemn buildings) came rolling in and put an orange notification tag on the car. It had to be removed with in a set period, I think thirty days. My memory isn't fresh with all the details but it's certainly possible, especially if it's considered abandoned.
  • What do you mean by "distressed," and where is it parked? If the vehicle is in the tenants parking space and not violating any laws, you have no right to have the vehicle towed. Your tenant has the right to possesion. That is what a lease is.
  • distressed is a vehicle that code enforcement would tag and give me the notice since I am the landlord. I am also the one who would be fined if the vehicle was not repaired or removed. I know that in this situation, I can start an eviction if the tenant doesn't comply but can I have the vehicle towed (at tenants expense) instead of evicting the tenant. At this point, tenant is stringing me along with hints that someone will purchase the car but that doesn't seem to materalize.
  • Call your favorite tow truck and put the hook to it. You are legal.
  • If it's on your property you have the right to remove it provided notice was made prior to..ie Sign or notice, to not park or be towed. Foreget about code enforcement, not necessary. by the way don't park at your local bank after hours and let them catch you, or you could be running to the impound lot in less than an hour
  • Open the Yellow Pages and select a tow company. Once you have given notice, this is all thats required.
