Since when did Answerbag degenerate from a thoughtful website with people posting serious questions and helpful answers, to an unregulated bunch of rambling, mindless idiots akin to the worst internet message boards?

That started Nov 14, 2006, when the points system was introduced. However, the good news is that there are waves and eddies in this phenomenon: it's not ALWAYS idiotic, and the good stuff can be quite good. You just have to be patient, persistent, and keep your BS filter cleaned and tuned.

Perhaps you are hanging out in the wrong AB neighborhood..I have found no "unregulated bunch of rambling, mindless idiots"..so perhaps you need to seek other areas where you would find things more to your liking! Just a suggestion! :)

As you expand the base you increase the number of idiots and jerks within your universe. Early televison is a prime example. When sets cost half the average man;s annual family only an elite group bought them. The AVERAGE quality of programs was much higher. As Joe six-pack came to be able to afford a tv, advertisers wanted to appeal to the lowest common denomiator -- and look what we've got. Cable has improved the situation, somewhat--but it should have done better.

how does this question make it any better? complaining about it won't do anything, you want better questions? ask better questions, you want better answers then give better answers.

Akin to the worse internet message board? I've been to some seedy message boards, so far I havn't seen 1337 speak, ghetto speak, or the words "nigger", "cunt", "kike", "Dirty jew", or "mother fucker" which are all normals of gaming message boards...

This is not a new development. It's been like this as long as I care to remember. It doesn't bother me.

If you don't like this club and it serves no purpose for you, perhaps you should start another one. Short of that, you could screen out the conversational questions and just...well have no fun at all if that is what you're up for.
