They get paid lots of money and can basically do as they please, its all about the power they have or think they have and it wrecks their minds and they become corrupt and end up doing things they always said they wanted to stop other politicians from doing

Because they have the power and as the saying goes Nothing currupts like power and absolute power currupts totally. They are corrupt because they have the chance to be.

The way they got there was to convince people they could be useful. They do that convincing by using every trick in the book, making promises, lying. The better they are at it, the more people want them. Their job is to keep people happy. The best way to do that is to give people what they want, and the only way to do that is to take it from someone else. The better they are at cheating, lying, and tricking people, the more people are happy.

Which people in which government? They are not all corrupt. Many of my family members have been in public service and they are the opposite of corrupt.

Corporations spend huge sums of money to help get the person elected or hired. Once they are in office, the corporations pull the strings in their favor. So the people with money decide what happens in this country. And what do they decide? "I want more money for myself, and who cares about people who aren't rich like me."

It's the thought of all that free money (our money) that they can take advantage of.They make the laws and regulations that the rest of us are supposed to abide by,but when it comes to them throw them out the window.Power breeds corruption,corruption breeds greed and greed breeds corruption.Full circle.

Because people in general are corruptible. Not many of us talk the talk and walk the walk all of the time. Politicians have learned how to do it more than most of us.

People in all jobs and goverment can be corupted if given the opportunity to make a quick buck without being caught. Not saying all, but some will.

Because the general public put up with it and so they keep getting away with it. Can you imagine if we all turned around and said, no I will not pay my taxes because you are all corrupt? We would fall out with society and there would be a civil war. People like stability, not civil war unless gross violations of human rights occur. Therefore people in power will do what they can until they can't get away with it anymore. Unfortunately there is no one willing to risk enough to challenge the corruption. Look at the bank situation's, moral standards don't mean didley squat where the economy is concerned, they need "regulation" because Cheif Executives of these companies have no morals. Money really is the route of all evil. Very sad.

simply put. A basic human survival tactic. Self-severing interests. Exploited by other self-serving people.

Most of them are not. The press only tells you about the ones that are corrupt. This is frustrating for people who work in government, but we understand it because 1) it's a democracy, 2) the press only has so much air time or column space to report the news, and 3) that it is much more important for you to know what's not working than to know what is. The only alternative solution to this would be for the press to report only "happy news." Which might make you feel good, but wouldn't tell you what you need to know. Those of us who work in government understand that, and sure it gets irritating sometimes that doing a good job is less likely to get attention than doing a bad job, but the bottom line is that it's our country as well as yours and it's more important for the press to talk about what needs fixing than the things that are working well.

You'll never know for sure. It depends on the person, and the theory. Remember that Theories are good to hear, but don't believe all of them, just take them into account.

Because we don't know how to stop them. Think for a moment if we all on a specfied day, called into work sick. We then go to our Drs. and get taken off of work, mostly for stress that our companies have put on us, and the fear of the economy, etc. We then within 10 days start receiving State Disibility checks. How long do you think it would take corrupt corporate america to go under because we legally can be off of work, receiving checks that have been deducted out of our payroll cks. for years. That money is ours. Wouldn't our goverment sit up and take notice, that WE'RE NOT GOING TO TAKE IT ANYMORE. THE TABLE OF POWER WPOLD BE TURNED.
