  • Maybe not, but there are some potential problems. If the two adaptors swap how they deliver positive and negative voltage on the tip and ring of the plug, that could be disastrous. It's unlikely, but you never know. Also, if it's the adaptor that's supposed to do the current limiting, that could allow 6.3A to be delivered to the laptop when the power input circuits were only designed to handle 4.75A, so if there's a surge in current, it could fry something in the laptop. But if the current limiting is being done by the laptop, you should be fine.
  • As a general rule you should only use an adapter that is within one amp or one volt of what is specified for your laptop. Going over that for an extended period of time can cause damage to your laptop. That is why I wouldn't recommend a universal adapter either.
