I do not consider it to be a foreign language because I spoke it as a youth. However, I have forgotten the vast majority of it (Keysha says that I speak it in my sleep sometimes though).

I would like to speak the Kalderashi dialect of Rromanes fluently (actually we are Kalderashi-Vlax).

Though I would consider several languages, such as Dutch, Hebrew, Japanese, etc...I'd say I want to speak Latin.

    Or maybe Aramaic.

I think I would love to be fluent again in French. It's okay understanding my relatives and being able to read it a little but it sure would be wonderful to talk to my relatives back in Belgium and not get laughed at when I make a mistake:-(

There are quite a few, actually. Inuktituk, Cree, Japanese, Chinese, German, Greek, Swedish and sign language come to mind.

BTW, thank you for using the term 'different language' rather than 'foreign language'; it is good to be reminded that we all belong on this earth, no matter what our native tongue is.

    ESPERANTO,
    see wikipedia below

Esperanto (help·info) is the most widely spoken constructed international language. The name derives from Doktoro Esperanto, the pseudonym under which L. L. Zamenhof first published the Unua Libro in 1887. The word itself means 'one who hopes'. Zamenhof's goal was to create an easy and flexible language as a universal second language to foster peace and international understanding.

Although no country has adopted the language officially, it has enjoyed continuous usage by a community estimated at between 100,000 and 2 million speakers. The 2005 edition of the Ethnologue estimates that there are about a thousand native speakers.[1]

Today, Esperanto is employed in world travel, correspondence, cultural exchange, conventions, literature, language instruction, television (Internacia Televido) and radio broadcasting. Some state education systems offer elective courses in Esperanto; there is evidence that learning Esperanto is a useful preparation for later language learning (see Esperanto and education).

I would love to speak French (although most of the French people we dealt with in France were rude) and Italian. I took French in high school, but have forgotten most of it. When we went to Venice, Italy I thought their language was very cool too. Romeo and Juliet is my all time fav. story, so being able to speak the language of my literary favorites would be nice.

  • If you could speak a different language which one would you speak?
  • If you could speak perfectly in another language what would it be?
  • If you could speak any one foreign language fluently, which one would you chose? (I speak French).
  • If you could speak a different language, what would it be and why?
