The best time was lead by Roger Waters, but before Richard Wright was gone.

I'm a Syd gal, myself. I even spin his solo albums from time to time.

It was fun in the early days with Sid, it became aggressive with Roger and the Wall but now we hear class musicians who are enjoying themselves into old age. When I now listen to the Sid days they grate on me, I love Meddle etc but to watch Pulse and Gilmore's new stuff is awe inspiring.

Syd was brilliant, but I have to say that Waters really did their best works. The Wall, Final Cut, Dark Side...Really, he made some of the greatest albums in history, and that's saying something.

Roger Waters is my top choice.

I found the Syd era a little too silly and whimsical, kind of similar to old Moody Blues, which I am not a huge fan of. Roger Waters added such a darkness and disturbing genius to his work, I definitely prefer his influence on the band over Syd's.

I quite like Floyd in all of their variations. I love the early Pink Floyd with Syd but the later stuff is great too. Although I'm not as big a fan of The Wall and I don't care for the 80s stuff. But everything prior to that is great in one way or another.

Gilmore for me! see: Monday 18th February 2008 "The Titan Of Tone (Says Guitarist Magazine) David makes the cover of the latest Guitarist magazine in the UK, having topped a poll of great individual guitar tones. The search for top tone is the guitarist's grail quest – the perfect balance of guitar, amplifier, effects and technique that separates the masters from the apprentices. Of course, it's always a personal choice, but just for the record, David's second solo in Comfortably Numb beat such greats as Jimi Hendrix (2), Eddie Van Halen (3), Brian May (4), and Stevie Ray Vaughan (5), for the top slot. Other great tone purveyors listed included Slash, Hank Marvin, Angus Young, Eric Clapton, Billy Gibbons, George Harrison, Peter Green, and many other influential players." also.. "In 2003, David donated the £3.6 million proceeds of the sale of his London house to Crisis, the charity for the homeless of which he is a vice-president."

I like the first 4 - 5 albums best. (The Piper at the Gates of Dawn, A Saucerful of Secrets, Meddle, Ummagumma, and The Dark Side of the Moon)

I prefer the Meddle through The Wall era Floyd.
