  • I believe that is a cappichino maker. Super-coffee!
  • Don't believe the hype...Because the coffee grounds are in direct contact with the brewing water, coffee brewed with the French press captures more of the coffee's flavor and essential oils, which would become trapped in a traditional drip brew machine's paper filters. French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker and has more sediment than drip-brewed coffee. Because the used grounds remain in the drink after brewing, French pressed coffee should be served immediately so as to not become bitter from over-extraction.
  • That is called a cafetiere, and is widely used round here. I use one at home, and I often get offered them at hotels and restaurants. The plunger has a fine-grained filter which goes snugly to the sides of the (usually glass) pot. You put the coffee in and pour boiling water on waterer on, then leave for a couple of minutes so coffee and water mix well. When you push the plunger down, the grounds are forced to the bottom, leaving nice coffee to pour.
  • In Britain we call that type of coffee pot a cafetière. In the States I think they call them a French Press, or something similar. The plunger is attached to a circular mesh filter that is a snug fit inside the glass jug and it just separates the coffee from the grounds.
  • It's a French press and makes the BEST coffee!!! Amazon has many sizes and inexpensive, too.
  • I took a girl there one time and when asked what I wanted, being a regular guy said "coffee" OH MY GOD!! It was like I ordered the death of 3 of the seven dwarfs, "What kind?" he said "A regular cup of coffee, I said Well, then she gets up there and rattles off, mocha, docka, three splashes of this and 8 drops of this WITH foam! So, you won't see me much in there any more. And to be honest, the coffee sucked! And I watched them make it. I know its the redneck coming out but Burger Kings coffee I like and not the new crap thats trying to be cool, because I know what's COOL! aayyyy
  • It is a French Press. I believe it makes the best tasting coffee. However, the down side is that since it isn't a filtered coffee, there is a chance it can raise your cholesterol. Since I have high cholesterol, I have stopped using mine on a daily basis.
  • nope that's a cafetiere - not to be mistaken for the espresso - where you can make coffee strong enough to stand you spoon up! and you'll never sleep again... =)
