Since Easter is coming up, how about doing an easter basket theme. Get a large basket, choose pratical gifts is pastel colors, choose bibs and such that have bunnies, chicks or lambs on then. Put a pink stuffed bunny in the center. If you choose some gifts that are small enough, maybe they will fit inside plastic eggs. Don't forget a rubber ducky!

I tend to give a sling. It can give a bit of closness to the mother and baby and it isn't often thought off. Tho I think more are getting them now-a-days. They are handy for helping the mom get back her body or in situations where a stroller might be too bulky or in the way, and helps leave the mom's hands free. Sometimes I just buy one, but usually I make the ones I give and try to do a personal touch to it with color and theme. Depending on the person, I use a color she wears often or I will go with her baby theme for her nursery. All depends.

I once bought a wicker hamper for their nursery, and filled it with a few outfits, blankets, bottles, lotions, diapers, etc.. It's like a gift within a gift. :)
