Not at all. I know lots of people who did not go to prom for all sorts of reasons. Some of my students who couldn't afford dresses and tuxes got together at one their houses and had their own little party. They took pictures like the prom and everything. I think there were about 14 kids total.

Never thought of myself as a loser. I didn't want to go and nobody every said a thing about it. Didn't see the point. I already had gotten dressed up. I had a boyfriend/fiancé. I don't like big gatherings and preferred smaller ones and definitely outdoor activities.

No way. I skipped mine to do something I actually found fun for myself. Not everyone likes events like that right? I do think you might want to consider it because I heard all the "it's a once in a lifetime thing" type of comments... But I still didn't go; skipped it to play basketball. Not a loser in my opinion. Do what you want to do, who cares what the rest think.

No. I went to mine, but both were a complete waste of time. We were bored and all they played was rap and country. Fast forward to the after prom parties. . .now those WERE fun.

Nah... You're just someone that doesn't necessarily like all the hoopla of a certain dance. Never went to mine. And NEVER considered myself a loser for that.

No. I was an outsider who didn't follow the crowd. I could care less about dances and events such as proms.

not at all.....My high school prom's were a waste of time and energy....Don't buy into the hype: they aren't magical moments you'll cherish forever. In truth, they usually end up being a let down. It's the after prom parties that kick ass.... And don't let anyone tell you you're a loser simply because you don't want to go. Just tell them that you're going to use all the money you're saving by not going to buy them a life.

Nope. You're not a loser at all. In fact, I think you're the opposite of a loser if that's your decision. I'm personally not going to prom. I think it's a huge waste of money that I could spend on more important things. I'm not even allowed to go to prom anyway.

if you dont go to the prom, you are a loser weeks if not months before the prom. not going doesnt make you a loser. it just reemphacizes the fact. if you dont go,no one will care or even think about you anyway. if you cant dance or are afraid of girls, two reason for not going even if your arent a loser. if you do invite a girl it doesnt mean you are going to marry her. or knock her up after the prom. you can go by yourself. but you will be a loser if you do. because that means some girl wanted to go and you didnt ask her. it is a memorable event in ones life. you SHOULD go. it means asking a girl to go, and meaning it. dressing up, getting a car. buying a corsage. going. takeing some hootch with you so you both can drink before you go in. then have some fun, dance, stay with your girl. take her home afterwards. before midnight so her father wont kill you and her. if you miss all that fun. you are a real loser.

Hell no! Didn't have a date, but also didn't (and don't) dance, had to work that night, and didn't care. (Just the thought of all those guys in their monkey suits! LOL) I didn't miss the prom at all. The afterprom... THAT might have been a different story. Didn't go to mine... Went to my brother's afterprom to help my parents take Poloroids, and play "stage guard" or orchestra pit guard for Brownsville Station (no parent cared to stand by the speakers!) Even then, it was pretty boring. [Sorry about answering twice... Forgot I already had.]

I was too tied to the TV to go to the prom.

I did not want to go to prom and do the superficial mingling thing. I got a few classmates together and went to Coney Island in Brooklyn instead, and had fun.
