  • I didn't see any citations in Glenn's answer(s), so I figured this might be useful: "The only official interpretation of 'hot drinks' (D&C 89:9) in the Word of Wisdom is the statement made by early Church leaders that the term "hot drinks" means tea and coffee." (Church Handbook of Instructions, p. 185, also quoted by http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Word_of_Wisdom).
