If someone bought you a book and someone else got you the same book (they were given to you at separate times) what do you do with the extra copy?(no receipt given to you so you cant return either one)

as long as they were not signed by the authors i would most likely give the other one to someone else that likes to read or donate it to the library

If I couldn't find someone to take it either free on craigslist or freecycle.

If it was a really good book that I would suggest someone else read, I'd give it to a friend, not for an occasion, but just because. If it was a so-so book, then I would give it to the library or a thrift store.

At one point in my life I had 5 copies of Tolkien's "The Silmarillian" because people kept giving it to me... And I tried, but that book was just unreadable to me.... as it was to everyone I knew. The library got a gift that year.

This thing happened to me once. I had this Harry Potter book that my mother bought for me, and this other copy that was given to me by my grand mother. What I did was I gave the new copy to a friend who also is a fan of the story, and let him keep it as a symbol of our friendship.
