Hi Sophie Did you ever figure out why the PS2 did this. We also have the exact same problem with ours. Bought in the UK we moved to the USA and brought ours with us. Thanks Missystk

I didn't fix it (as it is impossible) but I did figure out why it happens. TVs made in the US only run on one frequency (which is, i think 50hertz) wheras TVs made in and for the EU run between 50 and 60 hertz. The region 2 playstation runs at 60 hertz and so it will not play on any TV made for or by the USA. I guess the only solution would be to ship a UK tv out there but that would be too expensive for me :( The PAL-.NTSC converter is made for those who have the vertical hold option on their tv which allows for the frequency to be adjusted. Some TVs still have this feature but most do not.
