It does not make any logical sense to me for anal sex to be taboo. That falls into the jurisdiction of religion... which also makes no sense to me.

I suppose because it doesn't contribute to making babies, it's just seen as pleasure, not pro-creation. And it probably has a lot to do with STDs as well. But if you look at ancient artwork from the pre-christian world, you'll find people were having anal sex all the time, with men and women.

Why has it been taboo? Because people in the past thought it was disgusting *shrugs* Why did they think it was disgusting? Various reasons, but it probably comes down to something them believing it to be an incorrect use of our bodies, whatever that means... *shrugs* All taboos should be objectively examined before being applied or followed, and most of the ones from the past are just silly : /

I didn't even know that it was. It is taboo in my house. I thought it might just be personal preference with everyone. I never heard that.

You are absolutely right, it has been taboo and anybody who says otherwise is living in some other world! Why? As is usual for many sexual issues, religion is to 'blame'. Anal sex was made taboo by the Christian church because it is not reproductive in nature. If you look back pre-Christianity (say <200 AD) anal and oral sex were absolutely normal (check greek and roman society). Church and religion. If it weren't for them, we would all be fucking each other up the ass as a regular part of sexual contact (which is good by the way!). :)

Like most things taboo, you can blame religion religion religion. Only Judaism allows hetersexual anal sex. Most other major religions consider it a 'crime against nature'.

I think that it is taboo because there was a time that anal sex was associated with homosexuality between men. Which rolls into religious issues.

Because it is essentially thought to be for pleasure and not serve any higher purpose other than one's own debauchery... i suppose?

Because religion says its bad cause penis's aren't supposed to go into the hole, but the waste of the body comes out. Sex only really happened to get the woman pregnant. (after marriage of course)
