This question is kind of an open one as every country in the world seems to have varying laws on Copyright infringement. In some countries it is illegal to upload or download copyrighted material but cross the border and the downloading is fine but the uploading illegal. In other areas the downloading to listen to is fine so long as the song is deleted in 24 hours. (In other words, to download and listen to, to decide if you want to purchase.) Still other countries you can only have the songs on your computer that you have orginals for. (Backup purposes only.)

As every country has different laws you'd have to check into your own country's laws to know if the downloading of copyrighted songs is illegal in your area. Also check into the fines in your area, some countries could fine you as much as $250,000 per song and/or jail time. (Fines could be higher in some areas, impossible to know the laws/fines for all countries) After checking into the laws and fines decide for yourself, "Is the risk of getting caught worth a few songs?"
