Help answer this question below.
It depends on a few factors. Do you have the money in the bank to cover the check or would you be "kiting" (relying on the time it takes to process a check)? Also, does your bank require a minimum amount in savings to avoid maintenance fees and if so, would the $500 put you below that limit?
Writing yourself a check can take a while, especially if you're trying to cash it at another bank. What would be simpler would be to visit a branch and withdraw the money from your account either through a teller or an ATM (through a debit or ATM card). You could also try the "cashback" option if you use your debit card to make a purchase.
CAN I WRITE MYSELF A CHECK FOR MORE THAN THE AMOUNT I HAVE IN THE BANK AND DEPOSIT IT THRU ATM AND THEN WITHDRAW THE MONEY? WOULD I GET INTROUBLE. IM IN NEED OF MONEY AND I WONT GET PAID UNTIL 2weeks?
Thanks for the info. I have neither debit or credit cards, but I have substantial amounts in both my checking and savings accounts.

You're reading To get some quick cash (about $500), would it be better to write myself a check and cash it or make a withdrawal from my savings account?
