lower is def better. mine idles at around 60. Her BP is quite high. Im not a doc tho, always ask them. :D

90 over 50 seems really low, depending on how old you are, and your sister seems unhealthy.
-
I believe the lower the pulse rate, the better as long as one is otherwise healthy. Only a doctor can say that it's ok for you and ok for her.
-
If I'm not mistaken, the pulse rate is higher is because he/she is weaker so the heart pumps blood faster to reach the demand. For example, two athletes runs the same distance and have their pulse rate recorded, if one of them have a lower pulse rate, his heart is healthier or stronger than the other.

I don't know Lisa..i am about 65 beats per minute and my blood pressure is about 102/75...So they tell me that I am a bit on the low side but that is nothing to worry about:) and appears to be far better for you than to be on the high end...but the 50 sounds really low for the diastolic.
-
If she is a few years younger than 112 might be ok. If she is older than you than her heart might be going to fast. If you are twins I can't say what the difference means.
-
from what I remember your rate should be 120/70...but everyones body is different....so may just want to consult your doctor :)

I'm sorry - if your sister's blood pressure was in the hundreds, her head would have exploded.

I am not a Doctor. Do you know Bjorn Borg the famous tennis player, his pulse rate used to be 40(idle)& when playing it used to be 70-75 & of his opponents 120-140 at peak output. In case of your sister,112 sounds like tachycardia- too high. In your case 90 over 50 BP is low, low BP is also dangerous,if it further goes down there won`t be adequate blood supply to brain.Be in the habit of taking coffee. Why don`t you along with your sister go for a checkup.

I often find these types of questions and/or musings running through my head as I am a heart patient. It sounds like each of your pulse rates is appropriate to your respective blood pressures, but I believe your sister is actually on the healthier side--especially if she was active prior to your both taking your pulse. I often get confused when the TV ads ask things like "Are you like me--have High blood pressure and high cholesterol?" No,...I have low blood pressure, and high cholesterol! Oh, well.

Yes lower is better but even your's is a little low but not to worry I take medication and I have been down around the low 60. it is different with the age that you are to. check with your doctor and he will tell you what your pulse rate and blood pressure for your age is.have a good day.

Well as far as pulse rate goes its better to have a lower pulse rate. the average for most adults is 60-75 I believe don't quote me on that, but the range is close to there. However, everyone's body is different so without knowing your family's past medical history its hard for me to make an assesment but basing my answer off of national averages I would say your pulse rate is better and I would have your sister get her pulse rate checked out. I am guessing you are a fairly active person do you run? Usually we see that athletes have pulse rates and blood pressures similar to yours. I know when I played soccer my BP was usually 110/58 and my pulse rate was usually around 48. I would ask family members what there BP's are and pulse rate. Does hypertension run in your family? It sounds like your sister suffers from this disease, but again I don't know her medical background so I shouldn't draw a conclusion like this. I would suggest both of you see your family doctor and get a check up you should be able to get all of your questions answered there.

My BP runs about 100/55 normally. Pulse is in the 60's at rest. As long as you show no symptoms of low BP (short of breath, chest pain, dizzy) i wouldn't worry too much. Having a lower pulse rate and BP is much better than having a high BP/tachycardia. When i was pregnant (in labor) my BP was 170/120, which is stroke range. If your sisters is that high, or even 130/85+ on a regular basis, i'd go get checked out just to make sure.
