  • Babies can be separated from their mother when they are at least 8 weeks, or when you see them drinking from the water bottle and eating the rabbit food. Hope this helps. :)
  • My baby rabbits stayed with their mum for ages, no harm done at all. The mum might be pining, however its unlikely. Try to put her back in with them, but stay to see what happens. The babies should be ok as long as they can cope with drinking water and eating solid food.
  • The young can be weaned as early as 6 weeks but it's better to wait until they are 8 weeks if there isn't a need to separate them. Does don't miss their kits. They are finished with raising them at 8 weeks, no longer needing to feed them. They must be separated by 3 months of age as some breeds are capable of mating with their mother. Soon after that. If your doe is pulling hair it sounds to me like she has been bred again and is ready to make a new nest for her babies. I hope this isn't what has happened as it is way to early for her to have another litter.
  • yea i was wondering this mine are 6.5 weeks and still with mum although they eat and drink alone. I was wanting to seperate them soon as they are sort of half indoors (small back porch) and she makes a right mess so want her back in her outdoor hutch as soon as really. I'd watch your doe over the next couple of days incase she has another litter - they can mate straight after having 1st litter so if the male has been near her sounds like u might have more babies!!
  • I have just seperated my 7 week old baby rabbits from their mother and all seems to be fine. I think because we would never want to seperated from our babies we forget that in the rabbit world things are a lot different! and they don't even bat an eyelid.
