• Thanks. I just asked it because I never heard what happened. So the covenant is over? What big thing happened at the end, was it just the chief's doing or teamwork?
  
  Doom 4 is just hard core gore, and though many halo fans will go that direction, I doubt any character there will be as memorable as the chief.

• The Covenant ended when the Arbiter killed the Prophet of Truth, with the help of the Master Chief, Commander Keyes, and Sergeant Johnson. From there, the rest of the story's conflict is resolved mainly through the teamwork of the Master Chief and the Arbiter, with Johnson helping along the way. At the end, there is what seems to be a lead in to another game, but that's just the very end.
  Doom, however, isn't a game that focuses on storyline or character development like Halo does. I mean, the only time the same main character transitioned between two Doom games was between Ultimate Doom and Doom 2. The Doomguy is always completely anonymous (even moreso than the Chief), and this anonymity puts the player more squarely in the shoes of the shooter, which is what a first person shooter is supposed to do. The problem is, people are more interested in storylines and characters now than just the experience...

• I understand. Thank you for the thorough explanation, though I wonder, what is the Arbiter, and what does the Prophet of Truth look like and how was he defeated? So, halo is an exception to the fps rule, but in a good way. Therefore, I would think that doom 4 might have its work cut out to keep the die hard halo fans interested. :)
