Is fructose as bad for you as high fructose corn syrup? What's the difference?

    The label High fructose corn syrup if just telling you that the concentrations of Fructose is higher then any of the other sugars such as glucose. The real problem with fructose is that it bypasses the regulatory step in glycolysis, additionally and if you eat a large bolus of fructose it can bind up the phosphates in your liver, these phosphate are needed to produce ATP, the cells energy currency this can acutely be damaging to your liver, but you would have to eat a lot of fructose or have hereditary fructose intolerance, so don't worry to much about that part of the answer, really it is just that all of the fructose you eat will be converted to either energy or Fat! Depending on the demands of your body because of the bypassing of the phospho fructokinase 1 enzyme in glycolysis, The real story is this: Fructose is cheaper to manufacture then say sucrose table sugar that is why a lot of products contain so much more fructose then glucose. Oh table sugar is one half fructose and one half glucose. Hope this helps!     Fructose is natural sugar from fruit. In moderation the is nothing unhealthy about it. High fructose corn syrup is manufactured. I tried to find a good internet site explaining exactly what it is but couldn't. How ever it is said that it greatly contributes to obseity

    The only fructose that is good for you is fresh fruits.It is live fructose from live fruits.Processed fructose in corn syrup is loaded with unatural sugars.
