What would happen if a person stuck their hand inside the energy beam while a person was being beamed up? *Star Trek*

    Ok, then lets say it's the beam system on Star Trek Voyager. What would happen?

    That depends on what era the transporter is in. If it was one of the prototypes, before the ones we saw on Enterprise, then it's possible that the incoming pattern would be formed around (and INSIDE) your hand, which would be a bad thing, depending on exactly what part formed.

    Later transporters (including all of the ones we saw on screen) made this impossible with the incorporation of the annular confinement beam, which not only kept the person being transported in the beam long enough to be either materialized or dematerialized and extraneous material (such as the hand) out of the beam.
