Maths prob i dont understand algebra can sum 1 explane it 2 me

    You asked about a (superscript 2) + c (superscript 2)

    Which in text is writen a^2 + c^2

    and it is pronounced "a squared plus c squared"

    a and c are sometimes known as "hidden numbers".
    a and c stand for numbers: EITHER specific numbers that we have to find or are implied, OR general numbers.

    Specific numbers:
    For instance, if you know a^2 + c^2 = 5 and you also know a + c = 3 you can use the techniques taught in algebra to find two possible solutions:
    a=2 and c=1 OR a=1 and c=2. These work because 1+2 =3 and 1^2 + 2^2 = (1 squared) + (2 squared) = 1 + 4 = 5

    General numbers:
    a^2 + c^2 could just mean something you get when you add any two square numbers. The actual numbers that a and c stand for are not important.
