When female celebrities wear stunning jewelry, it is usually because it is on loan to them from a jeweler, in exchange for some free publicity. Some, like Elizabeth Taylor did, have copies made of their precious gems, then wear the copies at public appearances, while the real item is in a safe deposit box, or an in-home vault of some kind. This is done, obviously, so that if a thief manages to "snatch & run," they have gotten away with nothing of any real value whatsoever, and will be horribly embarrassed, when their "fence" examines it. They might even wind up dead, because of it. +5
