I have many word rtf files to save.I would like to create a MS Word Macro to show the save as dialog box and change the save as type to doc. If possible I would like the macro to prompt for a file name and after I type in the name, save it as a doc file.

    It sounds as though a batch conversion program would do the job more efficiently. I have never used this program, but it seems to do what you want:
